Like in life trapping isn't about being flashy. If you can build a spring loaded bear trap from sticks great but realistically 20 basic snares will provide you with much more food, for a lot less time and energy efficiency is your friend in a life and death situation
Trapping equipment
Where to trap
It's all location, location, location try to get in the mindset of the animals in that area (for instance will they move along the ground or in the trees) try to find "rabbit runs" small trails of trodden down vegetation from repeated use.
other hints of animals that might help you start out are; foot prints, droppings, gnaw marks, broken branches or stems, tufts of fur, burrows and bones
Make it count
Now that you have found your location you need to set your trap Start of by building your snaretake a piece of wire aprox 2-3 feet in length make a loop around your closed fist and twist the short end around the other to make a loop make sure all of your connections are tight or your pray will simply tear out of it.
Now that you've got a loop/noose take a sharpened branch and tie the loose end of wire to it (securely) and drive it into the ground slightly to left or right of where you want it and prop the snare open with a cupple of twigs.
Check repeatedly

- Never build traps bigger than your target
- Never build mantraps
- Never leave traps in permanent position
- Check local laws before you try
- Never build traps in public places
